Who are the people who honk at you as they drive by you fishing on the river? Are they other fly fishers wishing they were with you? Are they "normal" onlookers who think you are crazy, because you a fishing in freezing cold weather? Are they fly fishermen who think you are crazy, because you are fishing in freezing cold weather? I got quite a few honks while I was on the Provo this last Christmas break. I would like to think they were honeys honking at me, but that is unlikely since I was all bundled and covered up. Was it you? Enjoy.

Been there. When you're really concentrating on the fishing and they honk, you can almost drop a load in your waders. Scares the Hare's Ear out of me sometimes. So knowing what it does to me, I do it to others just for the thrill of thinking I made them jump. Works great on golfers too!

Some folks just love to honk. They see someone they might recognize, they honk. They see someone a quarter mile up the road change lanes without using a blinker, they honk. You turn on your blinker, they honk. And for some unknown reason, every time they see someone fishing, they honk. The funny thing is that on some spring days on the Provo, they must have to honk for 90% of the time they are in the canyon!
