Anyone have any old or new Breathable Waders they are willing to sell? I have been using Neo's for the longest time (better for winter) but they are old and losing it color so I obviously need a new pair but not sure to go with the Neo's or Breathables......any advice or sellers out there. Most likely need a Medium or a Large.

not sure to go with the Neo's or Breathables.......

Go with neo's, theys much safer than the breathabels kind. The breathabels can fill up with water and drown ya but the neo's just stick to your round, puddly body. Much safer.

If your worried about safety--use a wading belt.

I will likely never put another pair of neoprene waders on my body. I bought the "there better in the winter" line for a while too. Put on some thermals and they are great. I will never use neoprenes again.

Cabelas has reasonably priced breatheables, orvis has a moderately priced pair, I wouldn't recommend hodgmans.

LMAO. That's a great sales pitch, dude.

I have an old pair of neos you can have. But, they've been in the garage for a long time and they leak. You might try them on. If they fit, I would recommend wearing a pair of G3s over them.

From what I've heard, the G3s will help increase your catch rate by 23.6%.

Good luck, tightie

I heard neoprenes are safer. Plus I want to accentuate my round puddly body.

I am full figured.

MTL,

Figure out your budget and what you can afford. But the bottomline is this, if you can't afford the high end Simms or Patagonia now, you'll end up spending the same amount of money anyways over the next 5ish years because the less expensive ones will wear out quicker and in the end you'll spend the same amount. That being said, Dan Baily, Simms Lightweight and Orvis all have good low end waders. Also do a search online you may find some shops blowing out the high ends to make room for the new models.

Neoprene's are great if your trying to kill yourself. Personally, I would rather rip off my fingernails and dip my bloody tips in rubbing alcohol than wear neo's. But that's just my opinion. FYI: The more you spend on waders (or any FFing equipment for that matter) the more fish you will catch, it's a proven fact! Also, if you fish with bamboo, you will catch a much higher class of fish!

I have a pair of Cabelas breathables that I spent $100 on 5 years ago and they have never had a leak. They have been used on average once a week for five years. Why would I spend $300+ for simms? Because the name? Because I want people to think I am cool? Because I will catch more fish? I don't think I will be wasting an extra $200 more for simms when the Cabelas have been just as good with no leaks.

If your only wading up to your ankles each time Mr. Carter then I'm sure you are fine. It is not a sense of being cool but rather practical. I don't need to look cool, I just am.

I had a pair of cabelas bluestream waders and they were leaking in both feet in less than a year. I tried to patch them but no go. If you are hard on them they don't last long.

Hey MTL, I have a pair of Cabela's blue stream waders I'll sell you, as long as you don't mind getting your feet wet. Kinda refreshing this time o' year but come winter you have to limit your trips to 45 min. or less. Oh shizz... nevermind, I threw them away last week when I cleaned the garage.

Winning bid on that pair of Simms was $31.51.

I have a pair of Simms guide waders that I would let go for $75.00. Size Large. No guarantees regarding leaks though. They have been used once in the last 6 years. There are probably some pinhole leaks. Easy to fix, though. Turn inside out, spray w/ rubbing alcohol and dab with aqua seal anywhere you get a dark spot.

I have another pair of breathables that I am selling for $35.00. They are very nice but need new straps (old ones are stretched out). Size MK. I never wore these very much. They have built in gravel guards & neoprene knee pads. The knee pads get wet which in turn make you feel wet.

I have had a pair of cabelas waders for about 4 years and I got a small leak in them on the leg from getting caught up on something I took them into cabelas and they gave me a brand new pair no questions asked. If you want to spend less and get a great pair of waders they will replace them for as long as you have them.

My job deals directly with waders. It's not hard to figure out where or who I work for. I'm not going to put a big stamp of approval on any one brand, I'll give you a little run down on some options.
Columbia just came out with breathable waders, Henry's Fork. The report on these is that they are good waders but too noisy and stiff.
Simms makes some phenominal waders if you can afford them. They are a little pricy but it is true, you get what you pay for to an extent. They have some lower end waders that are are around $150. They're pretty good and they go up to $430. They're super nice and I don't think you wouldn't like them.

The first pair of breathable waders I had was a pair of Hodgeman and they had a hole out of the box and I wore out my welcome at the store where I bought them exchanging bad pairs. They are pretty poor. My brother had a pair and liked them. The overall report that I've seen is they aren't that great.
Now, I'll tell you about some products that I'm more familiar with, because I deal with them more.
Like other people said, the Cabela's Bluestream is the low end breathable wader and is probably comparable to Hodgeman, I'm not going to lie. The next couple steps go from Premium, to Gold Medal, to Guide Tech, to Gore Tex. The Guide tech are pretty nice but there's some bells and whistles that some people don't care for. If it were me and you bought at Cabela's I would either go with the Premium Dry-Plus, or the Guide Techs. The step between isn't that much and the price is quite substantial. There have been a couple quality issues in previous years concerning the waders. There was a redesign that elminated an inner leg seam where leaks were occuring. It has apparently worked well because returns have gone down substantially.
If you go to Cabela's, talk to Zach in footwear and he'll hook you up. He's a very honest guy and will try his hardest to set you up with what you need. It's your choice to go or not and I'm trying really hard not to put a sales pitch in. Since I watch all of the ads that go through for the stores, I know that there are some waders we got on a special buy that are at a good price point...I think it's around $95 ish dollars off the top of my head. It's a pretty good deal for a good wader for a pretty fair price. The quality is better than Hodgeman and probably between the lower and higher end Simms.

I agree with what people have said and the Simms, Orvis, Patagonia's are some awesome waders. They hold up great and you'll love them. They are a little expensive but you won't be disapointed.

I work with all lines of waders and so I honestly say that there are a lot of good waders out there, it just depends on what you're able to spend. Good luck. If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Shop around and see what you can do. Good luck!!!

Punched a hole in the seat of my new G3's yesterday. They don't like it when you sit (fall) on re-bar. A giant store near point of the mountain replaced them with a new pair today. It pays to buy good gear.

By the way, I contacted Simms first and they said that they would repair them with a 3-week turnaround at no charge. I asked cust. serv. at C****** to see what they wanted me to do (I have returned lots of stuff in the past). C****** said that they would prefer to have me exchange them for a new pair.
