After you've done tail and body-
From the head you tie in a loop of light tippet which will stop just behind where the thorax will be. Start your hackle on the body next to the tippet wrapping around the loop you have made while holding the loop with second hand. Work your way up about 6-7 wraps and back down the same. Then tie off your hackle back against the body. When thats done you should have what will look like a post with a loop on the end of it. Now tie on your thorax. Last step is to grab the loop that has the hackle and just fold it over top of thorax and tie off at head.

Use the search engine on this site. There's been a good deal of discussion and a number of links to tutorials over the last few years.

Hacklestackers are great! The tutorial above is really good except I have found that it helps the fly float better if you compact your hackle after you have it wound and tied off.

After you tie off and trim the hackle, if you gently open your mono loop with your fingers the wound hackle will pack down tightly towards the shank. You have to be careful here because too much tension will break the hackle stem. I like to drop a small amount of very thin head cement down the center of the open mono loop too. After that, dub up a thorax, fold over and tie off.

A gallows tool, or a third arm growing from your chest, makes things easier as well.

If looking at the tutorial, it would be done at step 21.5 or so.

The single best justification for buying a Danvise. The way the bobbin craddle arm is adjusted, you can use it as a gallows tool, and you can just loop the mono post around the end of it, and then adjust the set screw with the loop pulled tight. Makes the third hand not needed, unless you've got an itch.
