April 20th, Thursday, 7:00 PM – Stonefly Program Meeting – Dave Scadden – Pontoon Boat Fishing Around the World, Salt Lake County Fish and Game Meeting House
Over the past 20 years, Utah’s Dave Scadden has been a pioneer in developing equipment and techniques for pontoon fishing. According to Dave, “Pontoon boats are our passport to exotic locations that would have been literally impossible to access previously.” Dave will present a multimedia instructional seminar on floating and fishing techniques using personal pontoon boats. Everyone who attends will be given a copy of his DVD. Additional information is available at www.northforkoutdoors.com

Most of our business meetings and program meetings are held at the Salt Lake Fish And Game Association Meeting House. The address of the Salt Lake County Fish & Game Association Meeting House is 1177 West Bullion (5700 South). Coming on the freeway, take the 5300 South Exit and go west to 7th West. Turn south. Bullion is the third road going west. Turn right. Bullion itself turns south and then west again before crossing the Jordan River. The Meeting House is on the southwest corner of Bullion and the Jordan River.

Attention Provo River anglers:

This year's (2006) project is the last piece of in-channel construction we
have planned for the Provo River Restoration Project and will not involve
changing the path of the river. We will be removing a large drop structure
downstream of Jordanelle Dam and adjusting the change in elevation of the
stream bed both upstream and downstream of that point; hence the
construction design is not very involved (See the attached 2006 Project Fact
Sheet, Diagram and Map). We will begin this work July 17, 2006 and expect to
be working in or near the river channel for approximately four weeks * less
if possible. Because we will be directly in the main channel, the river will
run off-color downstream while crews are working.

We regret any impact project timing may have on those wishing to fish during
this short period of time. We are taking steps (four-day work week) to
minimize this impact. After much consideration of when we should start this
work, we decided on mid-July for these reasons: we have to do the work after
the season's high flows subside; a full crew of workers will be available
mid-July enabling us to get the work done in the least amount of time
possible; we couldn't do the work in the fall because it might impact brown
trout egg incubation following spawning. We appreciate the patience,
understanding and support the angling and environmental communities have
provided over the past seven years, and ask for your indulgence for this
last piece of river construction left to do.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you again for your
support!
Sincerely,
Diane Simmons
