I think Jason Haslam loves the stuff too. He should be able to offer some resource ideas.

This book has great instructions on how to tie with cdc and the different types, not to mention a ton of patterns with step by step instructions.

allergic reactions ensue when I use CDC

I actually bought some the other day to tie CDC and Elk patterns.

I actually liked the way it tied.

Jason, I need some of the good stuff.

Jason, I need some of the good stuff. Yeah. I haven't really found anything that is quite as good as that CDC you gave me last year.

Hans wellerman (sp) occaissionally shows up on this board and he ties with it a lot. I cannot remember his handle or you could pm or e-mail him. He has a whole website on tying cdc flies.

I know there a different types of CDC from what I understand. 1-4 are the different types that I have found. What is your best overall type to use for example size 16 and smaller flies? Some of the problems that I have encountered is that if you strip some of the CDC from the stem, it hard to line them up straight before you tie them down. Anyone have a few tricks up their sleeve to line the fibers straight without losing some of them?

Thanks for everyones responses as well.

I have issues with this too. I find it easier to cut CDC straight from the rabbit's foot. It stays in a nice clump that way;)

In all seriousness, when I DO tie with CDC, I usually pull all of the fibers forward and use the tip of the feather(s).

I like CDC. It just has a great natural look and presentation...especially mayflies; adult and emergers. Shane Stalcup's "Mayflies" tying book is pretty cool...he uses CDC alot.

Renee Harrop,s book (Trout Hunter) has great information on tying with CDC. His book also goes into detail about the history and slow incorporation of CDC into many of todays fly patterns. Most of the CDC patterns in this book are his own creations or designed by his wife Bonnie Harrop.

Renee Harrop also has some vidios/DVD's that are very helpful. I have just about worn mine out. Now if I could only remember who I lent the one on mayflies to!!! They are well worth the money.

I have a few duck pelts that my friend gave to me. What procedures do you do to harvest and prepare them for use?
