On Wednesday the 15th of February at 6:00 p.m. at the USU Water Lab (1600 Canyon Road in Logan) we will be having an orientation for volunteers for the upcoming Youth Urban Fisheries program. The program will start May 10 and go for 8 weeks. Volunteers will be working with kids helping them to learn the basics of fishing, entomology and conservation. There will be about an hour of fishing time each week. This is a good opportunity to help young people learn to appreciate and enjoy the abundant opportunities for fishing that our area offers.

This will be followed by our regular Cache Anglers meeting at 7:00 p.m. Following an update on club business Lance Egan will be giving a presentation. He will discuss his experiences as a competition fly fisher, as well as how the upcoming Team USA tryouts will operate. Lance has competed in many different events, and has won or placed in most of them, including two gold medals at the ESPN Great Outdoor Games, the gold at the 2005 Teva Mountain Games, and nine top 3 placings at the Best Of The West distance casting competition. Lance is a member of the Flyfishing Team USA, is a Ross Reels Pro-Staff member, an Umpqua Feather Merchants signature fly tyer, and a product tester for Simms fishing products. Lance is one of the staff members at the Lehi Cabela’s flyshop. He fishes about 130 days per year for anything that swims, and is driven by a thirst for the ultimate piscatorial knowledge.

Lance, thanks for the great presentation. For those of you who didn't brave the weather, you really missed out. Josh, you especially...Stef brought cookies.

Nick, Brian, and everyone else at the meeting...

Thank you for the opportunity. I enjoyed it as well. It was great to be in the frigid valley of the Logan river....

Thanks to the fish of the Logan as well...

So what did I miss? I was planning on going last night, but thought it prudent to stay home instead of having to brave Sardine Canyon.

Well, we showed some porn and ate cookies, and then Lance gave a powerpoint presentation on his experiences as a competitive fly fisher. He explained how each competition works, how the Team USA Fly Fishing tryout and competition system works, and how to rig & fish a Polish/Czech nymph rig. All were very enjoyable and informative in their own right.

You dont own a car, you own a 4 wheel drive toyota-- they dont get stuck in anything. I think you have a girlfriend and you just dont want to tell us. The animal porn before the meeting would have done you some good!

Hell Josh, did you even get to know her? You should have kept her until it warmed up some. Saturday-- I have to coach 2 basketball games and then take madison to learn how to scuba dive. I am going to buy her a spear gun and then we will see who catches the most fish.
