Anyone ever bought a bamboo rod from these guys? www.Split-Bamboo.com
Seems pretty cheap for bamboo, but might be nice as a first bamboo rod. Any thoughts?

I emailed a guy on ebay about a bamboo rod and he said he has 400 bamboo rods in his collection, he lives in canada and you can look him up under his seller name trailerwheel.

ok, apparently no one had had any experience with this company. I know there are bamboo rod forums out there where I could post this question, but I havent found any good ones. Anyone have a good bamboo rod forum they can direct me to?

Norm on this site might be able to point you in the "right questions to ask", direction. He builds bamboo rods himself.
Good luck.

tightlinez,
The headwaters bamboo rods are completely Chinese made as far as I know.
I would go with an american made rod, There are Thramer's to be had for the $500 range, or you could pick up two classics like heddons or grangers for about $500. I currently have a 9' Goodwin Granger Special, I'm selling for $200, as well as a 8.5' 3/2 Shakespeare that is a nice casting rod.
