We fished just above deer creek on Saturday and what a great day on the water.. off the water however, I was amazed at the amount of trash littering the riverbanks and road side near the charleston bridge.. it looked like a scene out of fresno.. has anyone on this site thought about having a trash pick up day? I think we owe it to the river after all..

Hmmm, isn't that the area that has recently been opened to bait fishing?

Good call
Its a damn shame but i tell ya its nothing near Fresno. The lower Kings is a damn mess, the San Juaquin near Hwy 99 as well as the Lost Lake area near Friant. I was on the middle there saturday and the mess has gotten worse since the last time i went which was 3 weeks ago. Guess its time to take some trash bags again. There are hunters that use the area i noticed too. The area below the bridge has always been open to bait.

If you think the middle is dirty, go fish current creek or clear creek down by Richfield. The two trashiest places I fished this year, disgusting. What is it? If you drink Natural light or Busch, do you forget that trash goes in trash cans ???????????????????

4. Smaller fish than a few years ago.
By a FEW years, do you mean 2003? If so I would definately beg to differ. They still aren't as big as the lower, but they are a lot bigger than they were in 03.
get your damn facts straight.

Our shop in Park City hosted a clean up day on the Middle Provo this past May. We let several organizations know about it and had a total of about only 5 people show up for it. When I posted a thread on this site, the comment was the middle is clean and does not need a clean up day, rather do one on the lower that already too place a week before.
The section of river by the road is always littered, just as with any section of river that is just by the road. In fact, if you walk up and down the road between the river and Midway, it is littered the entire way. It's not the anglers, it's the people dumping trash from their cars. The lower Provo is the same way in many stretches. Once you get away from the roads, there is a lot less litter. Go figure.
The artificial only stretch does seem to have less empty bait containers and more strike indicators, but that's about the only difference.

cheech, what??? you must be smokin' on Chong's bong, I'm thinking 2002 and earlier for bigger fish. Anyways, get your crack smokin' head back on track, why don't you like the middle?

You're right... Hilarious. Maybe we should fish together. I won't fish anywhere 'cept the middle

Im quite impressed with the work that has been done to this river. The fish are coming along nicely. Yes it gets quite a bit of pressure because it is so convienant and easy to hike, me thinks you native utahns are spoiled...and rightly so with so much within 4 hours drive. Doesnt take that much to tote a garbage bag with ya and pick a few things up. Makes a big difference if everyone got involved from time to time when they went fishing or hiking. Hell it may strike an impression on others to do the same.
