Hey all:
I've participated in the official swaps in the past on this and one other site. It has been a tremendously helpful and fun expeirence. So here's my dilemma and an idea I'm wondering if any of you folks might be interested in:
I'm trying really hard to obatin that elusive balance in life currently marked by grad school, family, etc.. As such, I'm trying to be a little better about time commitments. I've drooled over the life cycle swaps but just don't want to commit if there is a chance of being the "last guy that runs a bit late and has ears ringing." The idea?
I'm proposing a miniswap of three tiers that choose three patterns and tie up three flies of each completed in three weeks (from full sign up to receiving flies in the mail). The swap could be quickly started and finished with flies getting in the mail to respective tiers quickly. Such swaps could happen quickly with groups that get going and even keep up with possible conditions on the river.
For example, what about a "BWO Miniswap?" Again, three tiers, three BWO patterns, three flies of each pattern, in three weeks. I know this may put us behind the BWO prolific hatch period, but what the hey? This can include all dries, all nymphs, or any combination of BWO nymph/dry? Possibly after this we could move on to other mayfly, caddis, stonefly, etc. miniswaps.
Any takers, let me know -- I've got the first spot, will accept two others and act as swapmeister for this run. From the time the first two tiers sign up, the clock starts ticking. I'll contact tiers with mailing info and get to the bench m'self. Let's give it a try, and see how it goes.
