I think I have heard the L.P. has sculpin as a forage fish. Do any other bait fish exist on the L.P.? I could be wrong about this all so I am asking. I know that brown and rainbow fry get eaten up regularly, even smaller fish. A sculpin is a species of fish right? Do they hang out on the bottom, or where? Anyone consistently use patterns like muddler minnows, etc. to take trout on the L.P.?

But an excellent pattern for the provo is a mconehead matuka sculpin.

Yes, sculpin are in most of our local streams and rivers, but they don't show themselves very often. It's not a main food staple for trout, just one of those "bonus" meals that come along every once in a while. They like to hide down in the rocks and keep out predator reach. They range in size from 1 inch to 7 inches long. Basic sculpin, zonker, muddler, streamer type patterns will work fine. Here's a pic of a large sculpin I managed to catch last year on the Middle.

I can't think of any rivers I have fished in Ut, Id or Mt etc that don't have sculpins.
