I will be staying with my brother in Fairbanks the first week of June. Anyone have any experience/suggestions up there?

June -- should be a few Kings showing up the first part of June, but your a little early. There are a number of rivers near (or in) Fairbanks that have a good run of Kings:

Chena (late June is peak)
Chatanika (again, late June)
Salcha (yep, late June)
These are the closest rivers with good runs of Kings (and Dogs), but, you will be a little bit early to hit them at peak time. You could still get into some kings...

One thing to think about when fishing for Kings near Fairbanks -- these fish have traveled over 900 miles to get to their destination spawning grounds! Amazing!

If you want to take a little drive, you could look into the Gulkana River (much closer than heading clear down to the Kenai).

Most of the best fishing is closer to the coast. If you don't mind a 4 hour drive south, there are plenty of streams which will be holding Kings.

If you follow the Park's Highway south past Denali, you cross several rivers which are known for their good Rainbow Fishing. If you are going south, they are right after you leave the last section of Denai State Park.

If you keep going south towards Anchorage, WIllow Creek, Sunshine Creek, and Montana Creek all have great runs of Kings in June.
