According to the fly tying club info, the far north tying meeting should be happening today. My question is twofold: is it indeed occuring, and at what time will this event be taking place? And I suppose I have another question: is anyone who wants to attend welcome?

thanks

Jason,

Yes, anyone is welcome to come. The problem the last few months is it seems that there aren't many interested anymore. Last month 4 showed up of which at least 2 did not bring their gear(myself included).

There are competing classes and tying programs going on right now. One on Tuesdays(Bob's class) and the Tying With the Experts program on Wednesdays.

If you are really interested come on up. I will bring my stuff this time and I know Brian is chomping at the bit.

It will start at 7:00pm at the Whittier Center.

The meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at the Whittier Center in Logan. 7:00pm.

Looks like the next one will be March 1st.

Do you have theme in mind or just a free for all?

A theme on the Boy Scout fly fishing merit badge would be nice. Teewinot could bring his Scouts over and all could help teach them about fly fishing and tying and when they get their merit badges, you could all attend the court of honor, puff out your chests, and feel proud that you helped them.

Of course, Steelies would have to tone it down a bit while the Scouts were there! :)

Now let me scare the hell out of you - I've just been made an asst. scoutmaster over a group of 11 year olds myself.......with me at the helm of this crew - I'm predicting that 10 years from now, hyrum will no longer be a safe place to keep liquor, young women, or property of any sort........oh the horror!!! hahahaha!!!!!

Don't give up on 'em Steelie. Stick with it. Don't ever let them make you feel like quiting. To me there is nothing more satisfying than teaching 11-17 year old young men about the outdoors. Those boys will always remember you. As grown men they will remember the good times, the things they learned and who was there to help them.

Good for you Steelie!

I am glad Steelie is not my boy's leader.....

Hyrum has been that way for as long as I can remember................

As far as a theme? Any suggestions?

If you want a theme for the meeting, make it streamers! I don't tie any streamers right now (except the monstrosities that I make up on the spot...) and would love to learn a few...I don't think I have very many streamer materials (for example I lack zonker strips) so I wouldn't mind seeing someone tie up a few streamers and getting an idea of what materials I need.

OK. Streamers it is.

Everyone down with that?

Maybe Brian will show us some steelhead patterns.
