Still Water Fly Size

Looking back through past threads it seems that smaller leech patterns (8-10) fish better than the larger sizes during the heat of summer. For those of you who fish this size why do you think this is? Most of my patterns are size 6 or larger and I am thinking of tying a bunch of smaller pattterns. Any info would be appreciated.

you need to keep in mind that your fly box should be as diverse as the aquatic life in the pond you are fishing...bugs come in all sizes, shapes and color shades.
