OK- what happened?
Did you catch? What did you use?
Did you have fun?
Was it cold?
How was the turn-out?
etc....

We had a death in the family Friday and that sort of set the tone for the whole weekend. I was really hoping to get a chance to meet some folks, perhaps later this year.

I hope everyone had a great time.

It was a lot of fun, as usual, (see this short thread from Saturday: http://www.utahonthefly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10008)

The fishing was actually pretty good this time. Not too cold and the fish cooperated quite well. I did all nymphing since the dry fly hole was sequestered by a group of ruffians by the time the fish started to rise. Mae Fly did you ever catch one? ;) Anyway, I had good luck with a Big Red and a Yong (#26). I think the only people I saw catching them on dries was Cheech and Stef.

I actually spent more time just hanging out and shooting the breeze with people, so that was fun as well.

I had a great time. I tried learning some new techniques but eventually went back to my standard setup. Sounds similar to Curtis Fry's setup. (If a 'Big REd' is a San Juan Worm??)

I posted a picture in the coldwater section. Seems like most of the fish I caught were about this size.

I wanted to get a picture with everybody but they all scooted off the water too soon and the bar was too dark to get a good shot. Besides Stoney had a perma-frown from the game!

This is Big Red: http://www.utahonthefly.com/flytying/flyarchive/bigred.htm

I'll post a few pics when Herb gets around to sending them to me...

Pescado!

a good time. It was nice to meet a lot of folks that I hadn't before, and also to see a few that I don't get to see that often.
It was sure a fine and sunny day to be out on the river! That is a pretty stretch.
The food before and after was pretty good too.
All in all a great day, I thought.

Didn't even get to wet a line. Minor emergency back home had to head out right after breakfast.

Tried to make up for it yesterday & broke the top 8" off my new, 2 hours use rod!

Still, nice to meet everyone.

i wondered where the hell you went. hey, we should ride some time if you don't mind going real slow. then we can really discuss who is/was the finest bicycle racer of all time (I'll give you a clue: he doesn't date a rock and roll singer!)

I do not & have not ever dated a rock n roll singer!

Here was my nicest one on the day. The others were fairly small.

Nice way to break in my new rod though....

Sorry you missed out Cyclefish. It was fun.

Curtis, if you don't mind, what is that rod you have there. Looks to have some sweet thread work done on it.

Well, I'm not an expert thread guy by any means, but I built that rod a few weeks ago from a Pac Bay Rainforest 4 pc 4 wt blank. I learned a few thread techniques from Greg and Paul at Lone Peak in AF and away I went wrapping that sucker. It was actually kinda fun.

Then to add the cherry on top, Herb had some Jungle Cock lying around and I was able to do a few inlays. Combine that with some other golden pheasant feathers and my rod is about 10% feather inlays....

Anyway, it was a fun project.

it was a righteous time, I even stuck a few . Best of all, though, was Fishnweaz' commitment to put me on some big shouldered brookies this year.

It was a fun time. I met this guy and he asked me to take his picture, I did. I only turned around for a second and the dude took off. Never did see him again. If anyone knows him, tell him I'll get his pic to him when I get his e-mail address.

I'm sick of seeing all those stunted MP fish!

Well, I didn't catch any "sharks" but landed a nice 14 inch fatty that jumped about 4 times. I caught a few dinks that I should have kept but overall it was a fun day. The weather wasn't bad either. It was good to meet all of you. Hopefully we'll get together again soon. I heard Stef just smoked em' landing over a dozen fish. Way to go Stef.

Ask Cheech, I think he gave her and Nick some flies when they were hogging the dry fly hole all day... ;)
JK....

They were on top though.

It was a good time. 25 showed up for breakfast, then we had "Walks" and Tracy arrive at noon as did a few others. In all about 30 attended. the parking lot was packed but Cheech managed a donute without crushing anyone or anything. But it would of been classic if he took out Cardiacs van. The sun was out, the fish were rising for all of 30 minutes, I believe everyone had success including Cary. We stayed at the "Other End" throw the Steeler overtime victory. Even saw Christopher Walkens at the bar holding court. Beer, garlic burgers, trout and football. Till next year.

Good Job Cardiac. Hey maybe we need to circulate that picture to help with the rubber hatch this summer.... I heard they found his bloody hat down stream.
