Hedge Hog

Hook: Standard dry fly hook, size 12-18.

Thread: Olive or black 8/0.

>Directions: 1. De-barb hook and tie on thread base to bend.

2. Attach about a 4"-5" piece of Super Floss(I don't think color matters)at the bend.

3. Attach a long piece of dun colored hackle. Note: Different colored hackle can be used to create many variations.

4. Attach 2-5(depending on hook size)peacock herls and wrap once behind the hackle and forward and tie off. Take thread back to rear.

5. Pull Super Floss tight and attach to parachute tool straight up.(this is what separates the men from the boys and I'm a kid here).

6. Make several wraps with the hackle 30-45 up the Super Floss and about 15 back down. You will need some kind of parachute tool.

7. Tie off hackle and trim. Take thread back to front. Take Super Floss out of tool and bring forward over top of body and tie off. trim excess and whip finish.

>Comments: "I basically use it as an attractor pattern. It has worked well on both the Logan and Blacksmith Fork Rivers on both Browns and Cutts. It is a very"buggy"looking pattern and I'm sure has lots of possibilities. It was originally created by Ned Long" --Larry
