INTRO: When I first started fly tying and I began my endless collection of new fly tying materials, I soon realized that some sort of material organization had to take place. I first realized this when I ended up buying hooks or materials that I already had plenty of. Before I knew it I had 2-3 times as much as I really needed. I would have known this but they were hidden under all of my other materials and junk that had accumulated on my desk. So, I then began my search for tips on how to organize my fly tying desk and make my organization of materials easier. I ran across a few small articles on the web and had some friends give me some of their ideas as well. I now had sort of a starting point on how I would begin organizing my materials. I used some of their ideas and figured out some ideas on my own.
The following is a brief explanation on how I have organized my fly tying bench and materials and hope that it might give you some ideas to help you. Of course this isn't the only way to organize, but more of a suggestion of ideas that I have found works for me, so you will have to come up with ideas that will work best for you and your particular tying style and situation.
